About Oliver
Oliver Abela is a Class of 2028 kicker and punter at Dawson High School in Pearland, Texas. In 2026 he joined the Eagles' varsity as a junior, kicking in District 19‑6A.
He came up from a productive JV sophomore season: 29 of 30 extra points, field goals from 38 and 37 yards, punts downed inside the 20, an onside kick recovery, and a JV Red Player of the Week nod. In the 2026 district opener he hit a 29-yard field goal in a 44-17 win over Alvin.
Oliver trains with Robert Hersh of Hersh Brothers Kicking and Adam Tanalski of Hammer Kicking Academy, and competed at HKA's Winter Elite Camp in Florida. In June 2026 he worked out at Rice, with its specialist staff, and at the University of Houston. His workout film includes a 50-yard field goal, clean kicks from 48 and 45, and a 50-yard punt with 4.45 seconds of hang time.
Kicking runs in the family — his older brother Noah, a 2025 Class 6A second-team All-State kicker at Dawson, now kicks at Northern Arizona University. Oliver names his dad and his brother as his role models. Off the field he carries a 4.21 weighted GPA, and his favorite class is photography.
